Appling Band Update for week of Sept. 12

Good morning Appling Band family!  I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Here is the schedule for this week:
Monday 9/12- Woodwind/Percussion help session until 4
Tuesday 9/13 - Brass help session until 4
Wednesday 9/14- Allwest help session until 4 for 7th/8th graders
Friday 9/16- Smart Music assignments due (not percussionists.......they have Flip video due Thursday
                   9/15)

Sept. 23 is 8th grade night at the BHS football game...... permission slip and details to come

Students have Ningenius game accounts set up and will be logging in at least 60 minutes per interim period and can earn belts (ribbons on cases) and candy/drinks and name on leaderboard.... encourage them to use this to reinforce and review skills.  Students will not receive a belt or candy/drink unless they complete the ninja stars for that belt.

All students should have Smart Music accounts set up and it looks like I'm still waiting on about 8 6th graders to join.  Students were sent a link with join code and instructions.  Please email me if you need help. 6th graders have three songs due this Friday 9/16 and 7th and 8th graders have four songs.  These are songs from our book that we have done in class.  Please have them spend time of these and submit their best work (strive for at least 80% or above accuracy..... 100% is ideal.... they are in charge of when they submit).  I have also just posted the Allwest TN band music and scales so that they can have access to them as a practice tool..... they do NOT have to turn those in but can use them to listen to play along with, slow down the tempos, isolate parts, etc.....  For Appling honor band auditions they are required to play the three parts of their Allwest music (I posted these on my webpage) and the following scales - concert F, Bb, Eb, and Ab.  I plan on giving out scale sheets to 6th graders this week for those interested in auditioning but they are on smart music.
Jazz band audition music should be given and posted by early this week.... sorry for the delay.
Honor and jazz band auditions will be the week after fall break.

Band tshirts and polos have been ordered and should be here in a few weeks in time for our 8th grade event on 9/23 and our 6th grade concert on 9/29.  If you have not paid your band fee that was due last Friday you will not receive these..... please make sure that is taken care of.... thank you.

Students have a LOT that they can be practicing...... method book, Allwest music and scales, 8th grade pep band music, 7th/8th grade open house and Veterans Day music, etc....... Please encourage them to get in a practice routine and be their #1 cheerleader/encourager.

Thank you for your support!  We are off to an AWESOME start with band!   Let me know if you have any questions one concerns!
