About Me

Hi! It is my joy to teach you in band this year! My name is Angela Sanders and I am in my 27th year of teaching, all at Appling Middle School. I graduated magna cum laude with my Bachelors degree in Music in Education in 1995 from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and I hold a Masters degree in Education in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction from Walden University. I have been married to my husband Bob for 23 years and we live in Bartlett with our three children - Marlee is a 19 year old college freshman that attends UT Chattanooga and majoring in pre med biology and double minoring in chemistry and music and is in the honors college there, Abigail is a 16 year old 10th grader that attends Bartlett High, and Riley is our nine year old son that is in 4th grade at Rivercrest Elementary.  I play french horn in the Bartlett Community Band and lead preschool music on Sundays at Faith Baptist where I attend regularly. I stay busy toting my kids to piano lessons, baseball and basketball (Riley),  and church activities. We love to travel and especially love Alabama football (Roll Tide!)
I am dedicated to teaching your children to love music and play an instrument. I love kids and love seeing the progress that they make from those first "unique" sounds to something quite magnificent. The Appling band has quite a reputation and tradition with students excelling in making superior or excellent ratings at solo and ensemble festival, West TN concert and jazz festival, and the national music in the parks festival in locations such as Cincinnati, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Dallas. We also have a high number of students to make the All-West TN band and participate in Memphis Area, UT Martin, and Christian Brothers honor bands. Our students go on to do very well at our local high schools and many of them receive college scholarships. They also are able to develop their talents and skills that they can carry with them the rest of their lives all while making lifelong memories and friendships in the Appling Band. I'm looking forward to teaching you this year!
