This is the email that was sent last night by our booster president.  We are in the process of getting everyone's information uploaded into Charms and will get our email contact list updated, but here it is:

Hello everyone! Hopefully your year has started off right and all have adjusted back to the school grind. Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Jeremy Stinson and I will be serving as the band president this school year.  I have a son that is a 7th grade trumpet player.  My wife was a former band director and we have been involved in the band world since we were both in the 6th grade.  I am excited to see what this school year brings.

Each week, we will be sending out an update for the coming week for the Appling Band. This way, you and your student will be kept in the loop on everything they should be preparing for and doing in class. If you have any questions, please let me know and we will do our best to get you the information you need.

So here goes! Your first update for the 2018-2019 school year!

From Mrs. Sanders:
    * Everyone should be bringing their instruments to class and we will make our fist sounds in 6th grade (yay!) 7th and 8th graders are reviewing from last year in hopes of finishing book 1 (current 7th grade) and book 2 (current 8th grade) in the next 3-4 weeks. Go ahead and be purchasing the next book in the series.
    * Smart Music information should be coming home in the next few weeks.

    * Please continue turning in all of the colored forms that were sent home last week along with your $125 band fee (due Sept. 1st) and any supplies you can donate.
* If you have not done so, be sure to sign up for the Remind Text System and Like our Facebook page A.M.S. Band. Bartlett, TN.

Parents- please stay and help chaperone if you can!

From the Boosters:
    * We are planning out this year and are open to any and all suggestions that you may have! We are also in need of help with our many different projects! If you are able to assist or have any suggestions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
    * The first item that we need some assistance with is the selling of snacks after school before rehearsals. This should take no more than 30 minutes and the students really appreciate it! If you can help with this, please let me know.
    * Our first General Booster Club Meeting will be held on September 4th at 6pm in the Appling Middle Band Room. Please plan on being there! We will be covering what we have planned for this year, going over our budget, and looking forward to how we can make the band program better for the students.

Thank you for what you are doing to help your child on their musical adventure! We look forward to a great year and hope you are as well!

"Welcome to Band" Meeting this Thursday 8/9

There will be a "welcome to band" meeting this Thursday night August 9 at 6:30 in the Appling cafeteria.  This is for new to Appling band students and parents where they can learn about the Appling Band and the upcoming band activities, meet the director and the band booster board, pay your band fee, get involved with the AMS Band Boosters..... many opportunities!  Hope to see you there!

Thank you/End of year Pool Party

Thank you all for a great year!  We were very busy and the students learned a lot and performed well!  I'm looking forward to next year with my returning members and looking forward to seeing what our now freshmen students do in the Bartlett High School Band!
Thank you for the wonderful laptop rolling bag that people pitched in on for me and gave to me at the banquet..... I love it!  And thank you to everyone for their sweet cards and gifts......I have the best students and parents.
We are ON for our pool party tomorrow Saturday May 26 at Emily McDaniel's house.  Thank you so much to her parents for volunteering to host our band.  We have been watching the weather and it looks like scattered showers on the front end and then tapering off so we decided to extended it to 12-5 instead of 12-4.  Please bring a dessert or appetizer to share.  If you need her address again, please message me on Remind or send me an email tonight or in the morning.  Looking forward to some fun!
We have several of our students attending the University of Memphis music camp on June 18-23 and there is still time to sign up.  I also would like to invite you to perform in the Bartlett Community Band with us that meets on Monday nights from 7-9 at Whitten Road Baptist Church.  There are many students that perform with us during the summer and it would be a great way to keep up your skills and work on sight-reading.
Have a wonderful summer!  Email me if you need anything at [email protected]

Our 6th grade and jazz bands did a WONDERFUL job Tuesday night in their concert.  The 7th/8th/and honor band concert is tonight at 6:30 at New Hope Christian Church.  Dress is concert black - white top (guys wear a tie), black pants (or girls may wear skirt), and black shoes/socks.  Admission is free so please invite your family and friends.  We need all students to be seated by 6 pm for warm-up.  7th grade is on the stage first and 8th grade/6th grade honor band is on the left side ramp.   If you can help with equipment/set up, please be at Appling between 5:20 and 5:30 to load and then at New Hope about 5:50 to unload.  We also need help taking equipment back to Appling after the concert.   If we have many helpers we can get it done quickly and efficiently.... thank you in advance for your help!
The deadline has past for our band banquet reservations for next Tuesday night's band banquet.  If you pre-ordered tickets, there will be someone checking you off when you enter Faith and dinner will be served at 5:30.  Dress is semi-formal/dressy casual (no jeans.... similar to what you wore for Solo/Ensemble Festival).  There will be a slideshow of our year's events.  Awards will start at 6:30 and if you did not order a dinner ticket, you may still come to awards.  I'm looking forward to celebrating our year!
6th and 7th graders will not need instruments next Tuesday because we will be playing a review game on the computer while we still have them..... but you will need instruments the rest of the week.  8th grade will play this review game Friday 5/11 so please bring laptops to class and no instruments..... 8th grade will need instruments next week.
6th grade has Smart Music assignments due this Sunday May 13.... sections of your concert music.
The jazz band will plan to perform next Thursday 5/17 from 5-5:45 at Pizza Social as part of our give back night.  Please meet there by 4:45 or at Appling by 4:20 to load equipment and if you need a ride.
All school instruments are due next Friday 5/18 for check in and cleaning/repairs.
8th graders...... look for information on a separate post for the packet that was given out at the meeting Tuesday night and also online payment information if you need to pay your band fee.  It is very important that you take care of that next week before school is out.
I think that is all.  Things are winding down and it has been a good year with the Appling Band!
