Smart Music due tomorrow 3/3 and Solo/Ensemble Registration deadline

Smart music solos are due tomorrow night  (Sunday) 3/3.  Students are to submit two of the posted solos for a grade and the others can be for extra credit but you are are strongly encouraged to do them.  If you are a 7th or 8th grader who did not audition for All-West TN band then you need to complete all of them.  PLEASE put time and effort into these.  Since they are longer, it will be harder to get a higher grade.  Please strive for 80% or higher before submitting. Listen back to yourself and make sure you are doing the dynamics, articulation, and all of the extras that the computer can't score you on.  If you are a percussionist, the bells are not going to assessed correctly by the computer because it is flute music, so you will need to listen back to yourself carefully before submitting and I will give you a score.
Everyone is being signed up for a solo at the Solo/Ensemble Festival on April 6 at Elmore Park Middle.  It is required and part of what we do in the Appling Band program.  I will know a specific performance time closer to the date (last year we were at 3-3:30).  This is part of your band fee and we are paying $10 for you to go.  If you would like to do more than one event (another solo or an ensemble - duet, trio, quartet, quintet) then you will need to pay $10 per person to go and I need that by this Wednesday March 6.  We are working on some ensembles in 7th and 8th grade band class and I would love to have some of those performed.   If you make a check please make payable to Appling Middle.
If you have a conflict with April 6 solo/ensemble festival, please let me know ASAP in writing so that I do not sign you up.  You will perform your solo in front of the class and not be eligible for a medal but will be excused if I know in advance.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions or concerns at [email protected].
