Hello and Welcome Back Wildcats!
I hope that you and your family had a relaxing summer vacation. My name is Tameka Nelson, and I'm thrilled to be the 6th (Students in Mason's Social Studies only) and 7th grade Counselor at Appling Middle for my second school year!
I will be working alongside Ms. Pintchuck, the other School Counselor (6th and 8th grade). This is going to be a fun year filled with learning, growing, and lots of new adventures. I cannot wait to get to know the community, the families, and most of all the students!
First, I want to take a moment to tell you a little about me. I am native of Coldwater, MS. I attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS "Go Bulldogs" where I received my bachelors degree of Social Work in 2000. I obtained my Masters degree in Education and School Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University. I live in Memphis, I am married and we have an 18 year old son who just completed his senior year at Christian Brothers High School.
This will be my second year as a School Counselor. However, I have experience of being a Social Worker for over 17 years. I worked for Lakeside Behavioral Health as a Counselor for DeSoto County Schools, as well as a Counselor for the State of TN Department of Human Services, and prior to Appling Middle I was Director of Social Services for a Nursing & Rehab facility in Memphis.
I am so excited about this year! It is my hope that this school year will be full of fun and successful experiences for all students.
Excellence Everybody Everyday
