Appling Middle School

“A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.”    ~ Lemony Snicket

Library Schedule

All Appling students visit the library every other week. Language Arts teachers bring their classes to the library every 2 weeks for lessons and book checkout. The library will be open with limited availability and a minimum number of students before school from 6:45am-7:10am, until further notice. You can see the full schedule here.

** April 19 - April 23 **

Week A in the library: Nesbit, Metz, Thomas, and Faulks ELA classes.

TN Ready
TNReady Assessments will begin Monday, April 12. See the document below for the complete testing schedule. All in-school students will participate. Virtual students who have confirmed participation with Mr. Lukas will complete the assessments at school.
As a new service this year, the Appling library has subscribed to JLG Digital, an online library of e-books and audio books. This library is available for all our virtual and in-school students. Click here for more information on how to access our new digital library.

Circulation Policies

Currently, students are allowed to check out one item at a time for a two-week period. It can be renewed for an additional two weeks. There is an overdue fine of $0.10 per day per book, beginning four weeks after the due date. If an item is more than eight weeks overdue, it will be designated as lost, and the replacement cost is due. If an item is lost or damaged, including liquid damage, the student must pay the replacement cost of the item.  All items must be returned to the library prior to Christmas Break unless other arrangements are made. We have a large selection of Playaway audio books available for checkout, but due to the high replacement cost, a permission form must be signed by a parent and returned before one may be checked out.

Remind 101

Please sign up for the library's Remind text notifications! I will send weekly reminders to let you know which classes will be in the library, so you can help your student remember to bring books back on time. There will be other reminders for important library events or news notifications. I will provide the code when classes attend the library.

Budgets are always tight, and I always appreciate donations! Needed supplies include white or colored copy paper, card stock, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, paper towels, and disposable duster refills. You can also visit my Amazon Wish List for supply and book donation suggestions. Thank you for your support!

Feel free to contact me at if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your students!
