Interested in Choir?

The Appling Middle School Choir program actively works to create quality musical experiences, to strive for excellence in both individual and group efforts, to develop a sense of community among its members, to foster the love of vocal music, and to share that appreciation with its audiences.  This program’s intention is to serve as a positive musical experience for our youth.  Besides the intrinsic values of music, our primary objectives are: character building, cooperation, loyalty, respect, dependability, responsibility, punctuality, and self-control.

The choir program at Appling consists of five performing choirs.  The four choirs are: 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8thGrade, and Honors Choir.

The cost for general choir is $50.00, which covers all their classroom materials for the school year as well as their uniform T-shirt for the concerts.  General Choir uniforms for concerts are: black shoes, black socks, black pants, black belt, and choir t-shirt.

General choir does not require additional time out of our normal school day for activities and rehearsals, except for our two choir concerts.  We have one concert in December and one in May.  These concerts are held at a local venue and begin at 6:30 p.m.

In addition to our general choirs, we also have our nationally recognized Honors Choir. This choir is optional and students audition at the beginning of the school year.  It does require extra time and fees.  The tuition is $150. We practice after school throughout the week and requires practice at home. They compete each year in a National competition outside of Memphis along with other performances throughout the year.

The choir program at Appling is very involved and our students enjoy performing for others.  They are very energetic and look forward to the reward of making excellent music with their own voices. If you have any questions, you can contact Mr. Mack through email: [email protected]  I look forward to meeting you in the fall and sharing the joy of making great music.
