6th Grade Orchestra

Course Description

     In 6th Grade Orchestra, students will learn the foundations of playing a stringed instrument.  Students will choose an instrument to play, have the opportunity to rent an instrument, and learn how to correctly hold and care for their instrument.  By the end of their first year, students should be able to: play a one octave D, G, and C Major scale; perform most of the pieces in book 1 of Essential Elements; have experience from performing in at least two District Concerts; have a general understanding of the historic time periods of music; and understand basic music theory.
