Welcome to the webpage of Ms. Julie Kelly! Born and raised in Memphis, I enjoy camping, boating, cycling, and anything outdoors. I have previously taught at Woodstock Elementary and Collierville Elementary but have been a special education teacher at Appling Middle School since the day it opened. I feel very blessed to call AMS “home” and am excited about the 2017-2018 school year!
This year I serve as 8th grade DEC case manager as well as Intervention Specialist in the areas of Language Arts and math. My schedule is as follows:
Period 5: Learning Lab
Period 6: Planning/Meetings
Week of November 13:
In language arts, we are continuing our review of formal writing using the TEXAS method with our focus this week on informational essays, reviewing grammar skills and working on "I Am Malala" informational writing. Q2 book projects in Mrs. Becker's room are due the last week of November. Library days are Wednesday(Mr. Wood) and ThursdayMrs. Becker). In math, we are mastering Linear/Non-linear Functions and Linear Relationships using the slope formula and slope intercept form. All students need to have a calculator in order to check over their solutions and determine that they have successfully calculated their equations.
