Week of 12/3/18

We are one week away from our holiday concert!  The concert is next Monday night 12/10 at 6:30 pm at New Hope Christian Church (corner of Whitten and Yale) and students are to be there by 6 pm dressed in their concert attire - black bottoms, white shirt (guys wear a tie.... any color or kind), and black shoes/socks (or the darkest you have).  Santa hats are optional.  We will need parent help in these areas:  Equipment transportation meet at Appling at 5:20 if you have a truck, van, SUV, trailer, etc....., setup/tear down crew, and student monitoring.  Please email Mrs. Sanders at [email protected] if you can help.

Congrats to 2 of our Appling Band students!

Two of our students have made the BCS 7-9 grade indoor drumline.  Congrats to Evan Schlinsog on snare and Mason Threlkeld on tenors!

St Jude Marathon

I have volunteered to help at the hydration station for the past 3 or 4 years and it feels so good to help with this worthy cause.   I would love to have as many band families as possible help out.  The deadline to sign up is tomorrow night at midnight so please contact Mrs. Flores right away and she will send you the link to sign up online.  Here is the information that was in the Appling weekly update.

Appling will again volunteer for the St. Jude Marathon on Saturday December 1.  We will have a Hydration Station #6 at Mile 7.  Our station is at Tom Lee Park off of Riverside Drive.  This year the course has changed and volunteers will need to be in place at 6:15 a.m.  If any of our Appling family members are interested in joining us, please e-mail Mrs. Flores at [email protected] .  We hope you will come out and support this worthwhile cause.

There will be a second round of auditions before the Christmas break and open to the following instruments:  flute (really need), oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, percussion.  Please use Smart Music as a tool to work on your Allwest TN Band music.  The marked spots were posted on my webpage back in August if you want to scroll back to find them.  Also learn the chromatic scale and the first 6 scales on your scale sheet.

Allwest Music on Smart Music

I have posted Allwest TN Band audition music as an "assignment" for everyone except for percussionists (I don't have files for them and don't know that I will..... but there are youtube videos to watch to help you that are posted on www.wtsboa.org and go under Allwest material to find these).  These "assignments" have a due date of January 12 which is Allwest audition day.  You do NOT have to turn these in.  They are just so that you have access to them on your home page so that you can slow down tempos, isolate parts, listen to the "my part", click on fingerings, work with the clicks (metronome), etc....... Please use this as a tool to help you with the Allwest TN band auditions in January and with the Appling Honor Band auditions.
