8th Grade Orchestra

     In 8th Grade Orchestra, students will deepen their knowledge of playing stringed instruments.  Students will perform in Chamber Ensembles, audition for All West, participate in Solo & Ensemble, participate in Concert Festival, perform for recruiting purposes, and perform in at least 2 District Concerts.  By the end of their third year of Orchestra, students should be able to: play one octave A, E, F, Bb, Eb, and Ab Major scales; play two octave C, G, D, and F Major scales; play a two octave c melodic minor scale; sight-read at an intermediate to advanced level; have a clear understanding of historical time periods of music and the corresponding composers; and have a thorough understanding of music theory.
